The University of Saskatchewan volleyball teams will both face a tough test when the highly ranked Trinity Western University Spartans visit the PAC this weekend.
The TWU women's team comes into the weekend with the No. 3 overall ranking in the country. Three other Canada West schools, UBCO (No. 1), Alberta (No. 2) and UBC (No. 8) join the Spartans in the top 10.
Emmalyn Copping leads the conference in overall kills on the women's side with 69.
THE WOMEN'S SERIES
The Huskies are 8-18 all-time in conference games with the Spartans. Saskatchewan's last win in the series came at home in 2011.
NO. 3 TRINITY WESTERN UNIVERSITY SPARTANS (4-0)
The Trinity Western Spartans come into this weekend having lost one set through four matches.
The Spartans took care of the Brandon Bobcats on the road in straight set wins before returning home to defeat the Winnipeg Wesmen 3-1 and 3-0.
Sophie Carpentier is second in the conference in kills per set with 4.77 through four matches. Setter Nikki Cornwall leads the Canada West in assists per set at 11.69.
UNIVERSITY OF SASKATCHEWAN HUSKIES (2-2)
A pair of tough losses to the No. 1 ranked UBC Okanagan Heat last weekend has the Huskies sitting at .500 for the year.
The road doesn't get any easier with the No. 3 ranked Spartans coming to town.
Saskatchewan has been led by Emmalyn Copping's conference best 69 kills. Her per set total of 4.06 is fourth in the Canada West. Setter Jina Barker is near the leaders averaging 9.24 assists. Barker is currently sixth in that category while adding seven service aces. Defensively, Jennifer Hueser leads the conference with 67 digs and is second in digs per set at 3.94.
