SASKATOON – Kelsey Trulsrud scored 21 points and brought down 11 rebounds to help the No. 1 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies to a 90-44 win over the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Friday night at the PAC.
The fifth-year forward from Saskatoon finished the night 9-of-14 from the field on her way to recording the double-double. Saskatchewan remains undefeated at 11-0 with the win, while Lethbridge remains winless at 0-9 with the defeat.
Four of the five Huskie starters recorded double digit scoring figures on the night. Dalyce Emmerson went a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor, scoring 19 points to go along with seven rebounds. The Huskies leading scorer Laura Dally scored 17, while Desarae Hogberg chipped in with another 11 points.
Zoe Dahl led the Pronghorns with 18 points. Dahl hit five three-pointers on the night. Katie Keith added another eight points and led the 'Horns with seven rebounds in the game.
Lethbridge kept things close in the game's earling going. The 'Horns matched the Huskies point for point until the latter stages of the first quarter and trailed 20-16 after one.
In the second, the number one ranked team in the CIS started to pull away, outscoring Lethbridge 23-12 to take a 43-28 halftime lead.
Midway through the third, Saskatchewan went on a 9-0 run to extend the lead to 54-30 led by a couple of three's from Dally. Another big run to close the quarter helped Saskatchewan outscore the Pronghorns 25-4 in the period.
The Huskies would grow the lead further in the fourth en route to the 90-44 final
The two teams meet again Saturday night at 6:15 p.m. at the PAC.
