University of Saskatchewan cross country rookie Shayna Uhryn had the top finish for the Huskies at the 2016 Stewart Cup in Calgary Saturday.
The Arts & Science student from Saskatoon finished the women's six-kilometre run in 22:00 for third place among Canada West schools competing. Joining her in the top 10 finishers was fifth-year Brooke Mentanko in seventh with a time of 22:47.
The women finished third as a team, while the men finished sixth. The University of Calgary took the title on the men's side, while the University of Alberta finished on top of the women's standings.
The Stewart Cup is the final race on the Huskies schedule in 2016 before the Canada and CIS Championship.
Other Huskie women's athletes competing were Kyra Ives (21st, 24:18), Katie Farmer (24th, 25:23), Jaedyn Matsalla (26th, 25:37), Xuan Zhao (27th, 25:43), Gillian Phillips (30th, 26:51) and Ellyssa Nielson (72nd, 27:21).
The Huskies compete in the Canada West/ U Sports National Championship on November 12th hosted by Laval.
