Huskies Meet Marauders in CIS Semifinal

HAMILTON – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies have the chance to avenge their 2015 quarter-final loss at home to the McMaster University Marauders when the two school's meet up in the second of two CIS semfinals Friday at 7 p.m. on McMaster's home court.


Saskatchewan, seeded fifth in the championship bracket, knocked off the fourth-seeded University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds in the quarter-final round Thursday night. After trailing 2-1 in the match, the Huskies settled down and were able to overtake UNB for the 3-2 win.

The host Marauders made quick work of the eighth-seeded Waterloo Warriors in the Thursday night's last quarter-final matchup with a 3-0 win.

Friday's semifinal match can be viewed live on with live stats available on the championship website. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from McMaster's Ivor Wynne Centre.

Just over a year ago, the Huskies and Marauders faced each other in the CIS quarter-final round in Saskatoon. McMaster, the top seed at the tournament in 2015, squashed any hopes of an upset by the eighth seeded hometown Huskies with a 3-0 win.

The only other meeting between the two schools came March 4, 2006 at the CIS Championship, once again at McMaster University in Hamilton. The hosts got the best of the Huskies in their consolation semifinal match with a 3-0 victory.
