The University of Saskatchewan men's basketball team is proud to unveil one-of-a-kind jerseys for November 11th.
Playing in their home opener on Friday at the PAC, the Huskies are giving thanks and supporting our troops and veterans with special camouflage jerseys. The jerseys were unveiled Tuesday at practice.
"Remembrance Day is reserved in Canada for us to honour and remember those who bravely served and scarified for our great country," said head coach Barry Rawlyk. "We also believe it is a time to express our appreciation to all of the men and women in uniform that courageously and unselfishly serve our nation. We want to express our appreciation to them and their families for the sacrifices they make in order to serve Canada."
The jerseys are the green camouflage. The words on the back of the jerseys tell stories of support and honour. The words also mirror Huskie Athletics core mission.
All veterans and military will be provided complimentary admission to the basketball games on Friday night with military id.
Women tipoff at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, while the men play at 8pm.
